COLUMBUS — It was a cold rainy day at the Quail Run Golf Course but Aurora’s Danica Badura was able to sit three strokes behind the leader after day one of the Class B state golf tournament.

The beginning of the state tournament season starts Monday when the Grand Island Senior High girl’s golf team heads to Norfolk for the Class A girl’s state golf tournament.

With the golf season winding down, the Grand Island Senior High girl’s golf team is going into a tough district tournament with the goal of making it to the state tournament.

COLUMBUS — Grand Island Central Catholic placed three golfers in the top four to win the Columbus Scotus Invitational Wednesday at Quail Run Golf Course.

AURORA — With the fall season underway, a golfer from Aurora shines above all of the competition.

The Southwest Sky Hawks and Norfolk Panthers each took home division titles in the Grand Island Senior High Invitational Friday at the Jackrabbit Run Golf Course.

Grand Island Central Catholic won its own GICC Invitational Thursday at Indianhead Golf Club.

One year ago a golf team from Grand Island took on the top Class A teams from around the state and finished in third place. This time around, the Grand Island Senior High girls golf team is more experienced and ready for an even bigger year.

Last year the Grand Island Central Catholic girls golf team witnessed one of their own qualify for the state tournament. This year around the team is older and poised to make a run for the state tournament together.

With the season getting under way Thursday, the Grand Island Senior High girls golf team gained some early confidence.
