Ken Fischer was remembered Monday not only as a fierce competitor and legendary coach at Grand Island Senior High, but also as a family man with a big heart who cared deeply for his players and aimed to teach them more than just the game of football.

KENESAW — Tuesday evening in the Class D-2 playoffs, both teams came into a quarterfinal with lots of confidence but Lawrence-Nelson was able to come out on top over Kenesaw 28-12.
