ST. PAUL — It took three innings, but Home Federal finally got its offense going to top St. Paul 16-6 in six innings Friday.

After three innings, St. Paul held a 5-2 lead after scoring all of those runs in the bottom of the second.

But Home Federal took the lead by plating four runs in the fourth and then exploded for 10 more runs in the top of the sixth.

Blake Leiting led Home Federal at the plate by going 3 for 5 with a home run, six RBIs and three runs. Ryan Melvin, Javier Cruz and Jay Gustafson also had three hits apiece.

Noah Halsey picked up the win by striking out the side in one inning of relief.

Five Points Bank tourney postponed

Rain led to the start of the Grand Island/Hastings Tournament being postponed on Friday.

The Five Points Bank juniors are now scheduled to face Bennington Saturday at 10 a.m. and Papillion-La Vista South at 8 p.m.

On Sunday, Five Points takes on Millard South at 9 a.m. and Beatrice at 5 p.m.

In the event of more rain, the games scheduled for Ryder Park may be moved to Kearney.

Dinsdale Auto drops two in Lincoln

LINCOLN — The Tom Dinsdale Automotive juniors suffered a pair of close losses on the first day of the Lincoln tournament Friday.

In the first game, Norris used a 3-run fifth inning to take the lead for a 5-3 victory.

Gage Brockmeier, Tyler Douglass, Pryce Ostermeier and Braedon Aguilar all had two hits for Dinsdale Auto, which outhit Norris 10-9.

Caden Jarecke took the loss, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and no walks over 5 1/3 innings.

Breggman scored in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge Dinsdale Auto 6-5.

Aidan Keyes went 3 for 5 with two runs for Dinsdale Auto. Marcos Perez, Douglass, Ernesto Martinez and Aguilar all added a pair of hits.
