Velma Eloise (Blair) Yoder Fenton, 75, of Grand Island, formerly of Norton, Kan., died on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, at the Norton Cemetery in Norton, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Norton Flower Fund 1026 Truman Drive, Norton, KS 67654.
Velma was born on Dec. 1, 1943, in Norton, Kan., to Charles Edgar and Elcie Leona (Crotchett) Blair. She was raised in Norton and attended Norton schools, graduating with the Class of 1961.
Velma worked hard her entire life. While working as a teenager in high school, she purchased the family’s first television.
She married George W. Yoder in 1961. Together they had two children — Tamara Sue Yoder in 1962, and Rickey Duane Yoder in 1963 — both born in the Norton Hospital. Velma and George divorced in 1983. Velma then moved to Grand Island and later married Larry Fenton. They were divorced in 1993.
She is survived by her daughter, Tamara Sue Yoder of Grand Island; son, Rickey (Karen) Yoder of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
