“Sally” Bertha Larson, 102, of Grand Island went to her Heavenly home Friday, May 17, 2019, from Riverside Lodge.
Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kelly Karges will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family will greet friends an hour before service time. All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Sally was born Sept. 1, 1916, in Polk County, the daughter of Ivar and Hilda (Anderson) Carlson. She attended country school through the 10th grade and graduated from Clarks High School, class of 1935.
On Aug. 2, 1940, she was united in marriage to Cecil A. Larson. This union was blessed with two children: Dean and Jeanne. They made their home in Grand Island. Sally and her husband founded Owl Auto Parts in 1946.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and was a member of the Liederkranz and the Saddle Club. She enjoyed bowling for more than 40 years, crocheting and baking. She and her husband belonged to antique car clubs for many years and they enjoyed traveling. Her greatest treasure was her family.
Her husband, Cecil, died on Dec. 28, 1989. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, Dean Larson; a great-grandson, Marcus Larson; her parents; a brother, Gus Carlson; her twin sister, Martha Hoffer; a sister, Elsie Martin; a stepbrother, Ragner Carlson; and four stepsisters, Lilly Carlson, Lucy Holm, Vivian Brady and Olive Butera.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Tom Graves of Grand Island; her grandsons and their wives, Brian and Hope Graves of Kearney and Danny and Jodi Graves of Hastings; four great-grandchildren, Carsten, Parker, Jackson and Madilyn Graves; and a sister-in-law, Twila Larson.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.
