Dorothy M. Moeller, 95, of Grand Island passed away Thursday, July 4, 2019, at CHI Health St. Francis Skilled Nursing Center in Grand Island.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, with Pastor Schambach officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home Chapel.
Dorothy was born on April 27, 1924, in rural western Hamilton County to William and Frieda (Obermeier) Sundermeier. She grew up on a farm and attended Phillips High School, where she graduated in 1941.
She was united in marriage to Henry Moeller on Jan. 28, 1945, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The couple resided on a farm between Giltner and Doniphan before moving in 1958 to a farm northeast of Grand Island. They enjoyed many years on the farm before moving to Grand Island in 1988.
Dorothy was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and was very active in the church’s sewing circle. She was also a 4-H leader in Merrick County for 15 years. Dorothy’s hobbies included playing cards, quilting and fancy work. In her later years, she liked putting together puzzles.
She is survived by her sons, Arthur (Sherry) and Gerald (Shelly) Moeller, both of Grand Island; daughters, Judy (Mark) Wilson of Clancy, Mont., and Gerri (Ken) Zrust of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; brothers, Merle and Virgil; and sister, Rosella Marsh.
