Dean Paul Jonak was born Jan. 15, 1956, at Loup City to Reginald and Adeline (Waskowiak) Jonak. He was raised in Paplin and received his early education at Farwell. Dean worked on the family farm until graduating from Elba High School in 1974.
On June 12, 1976, Dean was united in marriage to Rose Moraczewski at Ashton. The couple raised their four children while Dean worked various jobs, including working for the Natural Gas Company in Ord.
Dean was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where he enjoyed helping with church events. He was proud to teach CCD classes and felt his students were part of his family. Dean was a member of the men’s group, “This Man is You,” Knights of Columbus and CWA Union.
Dean loved spending time with his family. He taught his children and grandchildren life lessons and how to be a good person. He loved collecting anything from valve stem caps to pieces of plywood, because he “might need it someday,” even though he already had six somewhere at home. Dean will be remembered for helping anyone in need. He made a big impact on everyone he met.
