Clara M. Soeth was born July 21, 1919 on the family farm near Loup City, the daughter of John and Albena (Hejsek) Bartusiak. She attended school in Arcadia, Elyria and Ericson. She helped on the family farm along with helping various families with housework and child care.
She was united in marriage to Rudy Soeth in 1948, when they purchased a farm by Chapman to make their home. They later purchased and operated Ken’s Cabins in Chapman where they lived while continuing to farm, and eventually moved back to the farm. Rudy preceded her in death due to complications of diabetes in 1962.
Mrs. Soeth moved to Grand Island after her husband’s death, and worked in various places including the White House Café, Model Laundry and eventually retiring from Leon Chemicals.
She was united in marriage to Harry Soeth on February 19, 1975. As Harry continued to decline in health due to MS, Clara took excellent care of him in their home until his death in 2002.
She enjoyed working outside, taking care of her dog and was a friend to all. Never did she ever complain about her health or her circumstances. Whenever you visited with her, you left with a smile on your face as she always made you laugh. Her most treasured enjoyment was going to church and Bible study.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Pauline Weller of Grand Island; one nephew, Tom Bartusiak of Papillion; and one niece, Alice Bartusiak of Omaha; four cousins, who enjoyed her and watched out for her, Dian Eigenberg of Hastings, Carol Larson of Chapman, Ron Laub of Grand Island and Jan Penrose of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Rudolph and Harry Soeth; three brothers, Joseph, Edmund and Paul Bartusiak, who was killed in WWII in Alaska; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Bartusiak.
