SEWARD -- Concordia University, Nebraska’s Vocal Jazz Choir is set to perform their annual spring concert Sunday, March 24 at 7 p.m. at Neutral Grounds located on Seward’s Town Square.
“We’re excited to bring our jazz and pop-influenced vocal arrangements to the town square,” said Dr. Kurt E. von Kampen, director of the group. “This is the second time the choir has performed a full concert in downtown Seward, and we’re hopeful that the community will come out and support the choir in the relaxed atmosphere of Neutral Grounds.”
The program includes pieces such as Jerome Kern’s famous ballad “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,” the TOTO classic “Rosanna,” several Broadway musical numbers including “The Song of Purple Summer” from Spring Awakening and “Singin’ in the Rain” from the musical of the same name, and other well-known hits spanning nearly eight decades.
Members of the Vocal Jazz Choir from the York area include: Megan Kroeker of Henderson, sophomore, soprano.
