LINCOLN — Interstate 80 westbound is closed at Lexington, according to a Nebraska Department of Transportation press release sent at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The DOT said that after I-80 westbound was closed at noon Wednesday at Ogallala that North Platte is in a situation where the city is full with truck and vehicle traffic. Accommodations are almost full.
In addition to I-80 westbound, U.S. Highway 30 at Lexington also was closed.
Blizzard conditions in the high plains of Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado have created unsafe conditions for travelers, the DOT advised. I-80 will remain closed until conditions improve significantly. Motorists also were advised to watch for flooding.
