Two people involved in shooting deaths and a man convicted in the attempted murder of his estranged wife are among Central Nebraskans up for parole in June.

Jennifer Ehlers, Jeffrey Burkhardt and Bobby Joe Conn are all scheduled for parole hearings this month.

Ehlers, 24, was sentenced in October 2007 in Hall County to a total of 10 years to 13 years, four months in prison for her role in the death of Faud Osman on Aug. 12, 2007, and other crimes. She was convicted of being an accessory to a felony for the death along with burglary, false reporting, two counts of second-degree forgery, theft by deception, two counts of theft by unlawful taking and unlawful use of a financial transaction device in Hall County.

Ehlers, John Zechmann and Amanda Weddle had taken Osman into the country to drink alcohol. During the evening, Zechmann and Osman had a dispute and Zechmann assaulted Osman. Zechmann later shot Osman from a car being driven by Ehlers.

Charges against Weddle were dismissed and Zechmann was sentenced in February 2009 to 17 to 20 years in prison for manslaughter. Ehlers’ parole hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. June 20 at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York.

Burkhardt was 19 years old when he was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Adrian Garcia. The shooting occurred at 11th and Beal streets on April 25, 1998. Both men were self-proclaimed members of different gangs. They had been involved in a confrontation earlier in the day during which a gun was fired into the ground. When they crossed paths again, Burkhardt fired a shot that killed Garcia.

Burkhardt, now 33, was sentenced in Hall County in May 1999 to 15 to 20 years in prison for manslaughter, pled down from murder, and 12 to 30 years in prison for using a gun to commit a felony. He was ordered to serve the sentences one after the other. His parole hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 22 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

Conn, 32, was sentenced in October 2002 to 20 to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in Sherman County. He was convicted, with Benjamin Biaggi and Danny Moore, of charges stemming from the Sept. 25, 2001, attempted murder of Alicia Siegel Conn at her home in Litchfield. An armed man, believed to be Biaggi, entered the home and fired a shot. Siegel Conn escaped without serious injury.

Bobby Joe Conn supposedly offered to pay Biaggi to kill his estranged wife and Moore was to act as the driver. Biaggi was sentenced to six to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and using a gun to commit a felony while Moore was sentenced to a year in jail for the conspiracy. Both men have since been released from prison.

Conn’s parole hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 21 at the Community Corrections Center in Omaha.
