The Hall County Regional Planning Commission is looking for the best of best in Grand Island and Hall County.

The commission will award the 2019 Community Beautification Award to a business that goes above and beyond in making its building and grounds more attractive and thereby enhancing the community’s aesthetics.

One award will be given to a Grand Island business, and one will be given to a business outside of Grand Island, but within Hall County, including in the jurisdictions of Wood River, Alda, Cairo or Doniphan.

Anyone may nominate a business or industry that has enhanced Grand Island or Hall County.

Government or other tax-supported entities are not eligible for the award, but may be recognized for their efforts.

Winners will be notified at the end of August.

The award will be officially presented at the Sept. 6, 2019, Regional Planning Commission meeting.

The most recent winners included Northwest Commons and the former Grand Island Mall, including the Gordman Property at the north end of the mall.

Other past winners include Western Edge, Christensen Concrete, PMI Nebraska, CVS Pharmacy, Barista’s, Western Centre in Grand Island, Prairie Winds in Doniphan, JBS Swift, Casey’s Five Points, Southeast Crossings, Animal Medical Clinic, St. Francis Medical Center, The Dental Health Center - Drs. Janda and Janda, Home Federal on Stolley Park Road, U-Save Pharmacy Northwest and Centura Hill Golf Club in Cairo.
