Q4A Cause: Rockin’ Rib Revival, is seeking volunteers to help with its first-year event during the Hall County Fair, July 12-14.

Q4A Cause is a three-day festival during Hall County Fair that will have barbeque, live music and drinks to help non-profits such as Grand Island Children’s Museum, Hope Harbor, Grand Island Public Schools’ Food For Thought and Hear Grand Island. Admission to the event is free, but food and drinks will be available to purchase.

Volunteer opportunities are for all ages, but a majority of the positions are for individuals 19 and older. The shifts will be available in three- to five-hour increments. The volunteer tasks are to facilitate general event duties.

“Volunteers are an integral part that is necessary for the event’s success,” said Lorinda Brown, Grand Island Community Foundation VISTA. “We still have critical positions to fill — including I.D. station attendants to verify age for wrist bands, beverage station servers, and groundskeeping.”

The first volunteer opportunity is Friday, July 12, from 5 to 11 p.m. with the Grand Island Children’s Museum. The museum will be operating an ice cream float station and also have activities that are STEAM-focused. It will include a bubble activity station and other interactive games.

For Saturday, July 13, volunteers can sign-up to help with a bake sale from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Hope Harbor and GIPS’s Food for Thought Program will be collaborating for this fundraiser. Other than selling at the bake sale, volunteers can donate baked goods to sell.

Donations can be dropped off by 4 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at Hope Harbor’s Service Center at 615 W First St. in Grand Island.

Hear Grand Island will also be collecting gently used instruments and/or donations on Sunday, July 14. These donated instruments will be repaired and given to local youth interested in playing instruments. Portion of the donations will be used as an instrument rental scholarship program that will go through the local school systems.

“We are making a rib-fest rally call for volunteer support. We need people with a heart for service (and) a love for BBQ, beer and bands to make this event a summer bucket list event,” Brown said. “Bring your family and friends along with your helping hands, hearty appetite and boots for bust’n a move.”

Volunteers will receive a gift bag that will include a t-shirt, water bottle and a giftcard to The Ohana Hospitality Group establishments. These establishments include Wave Pizza Co., Sin City Grill, J Alfred Prufrocks and the Glass Bar.

Volunteers can sign up on the United Way’s volunteer website www.go2volunteer.org, and searching “Q4A Cause.”
