A collision between two semi-trucks Tuesday night on Interstate 80 was caused by a third driver who might not have known he was part of an accident.
The accident took place where traffic was merging near mile marker 311. Law enforcement was called to the scene at 8:35 p.m.
Hall County Sheriff Rick Conrad said the accident was “caused by a vehicle that got confused in the construction area, and kind of had come to almost a stop, causing the two semis to hit each other.”
The driver, who’s from Colorado, kept on driving. He was stopped by the Nebraska State Patrol at mile marker 275 in Buffalo County and cited for careless driving.
To Conrad’s knowledge, the driver didn’t know he was leaving an accident scene.
