In a written waiver of a District Court arraignment, Arek Friedricksen pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony.

Friedricksen, 16, is accused of murdering Vincent Arrellano Jr. on April 24. Arrellano, 32, received multiple gunshot wounds in the area of 11th and Evans streets. He died later that night at CHI Health St. Francis.

Friedricksen was scheduled to be arraigned in Hall County District Court today (Tuesday). He waived his right to appear on Friday.

Friedricksen had been bound over to District Court on June 14.

He is accused of using a Tec-9 handgun to murder Arrellano.

Judge Andrew Butler scheduled a pre-trial conference for Sept. 4, with a jury trial beginning the term of Sept. 30.

Friedricksen’s attorney is Todd Lancaster of Lincoln. The prosecutor is Deputy Hall County Attorney Sarah Hinrichs.
