Samantha Kershner of Grand Island, who was originally accused of incest, was sentenced last week to nine months probation on the lesser charge of false reporting.
Kershner, 21, was sentenced Thursday for the Class 1 misdemeanor by Hall County Court Judge Arthur Wetzel. The offense occurred Sept. 25. The original charge, incest, is a Class 3 felony.
She had entered a no contest plea to false reporting under a plea agreement.
Kershner was arrested at the same time as Travis Fieldgrove, who is both her father and her husband. Hall County authorities say DNA evidence proves that Kershner and Fieldgrove had sexual relations. Fieldgrove and Kershner were married Oct. 1 in Hastings.
Fieldgrove, 40, was sentenced May 30 in Hall County District Court to two years in prison, with credit for 121 days already served.
During his time in prison, Fieldgrove is ordered to have no contact with Kershner.
In Adams County District Court, Kershner still faces charges of incest and making a false statement under oath. In that case, a progression hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. July 16.
