The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and Nebraska State Patrol were on alert as they attempted to search for people associated with a stolen vehicle Monday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s office said that at about 4 p.m., the State Patrol notified it that it recovered a stolen vehicle near mile marker 340 on Interstate 80, just west of the Henderson exit. At the time of recovery, the vehicle was abandoned and the State Patrol was unable to locate any suspects near the area.

The State Patrol and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department urge residents near the area to lock their vehicles and homes and report any suspicious behavior by calling (402) 664-6936 or 911. Tips can also be submitted using the See Something, Send Something app.
