Serbousek honored by Department of Defense for patriotic support
Dr. Matthew Serbousek of Island View Dental in Grand Island was recently presented the Department of Defense Patriot Award by Joe Cook, a volunteer representing the Nebraska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.
Master Sgt. John Ternus, a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard, nominated Serbousek and Island View Dental for the award.
In his nomination, Ternus wrote, “Island View Dental has gone above and beyond to make sure the families of my unit are taken care of while their soldiers are deployed to Afghanistan. Not only does the staff wear red on Fridays to support all deployed military, but they help with packing care packages and sending dental supplies. Dr. Serbousek is always willing to lend a helping hand to the families with the many extra responsibilities that are assumed while our soldiers are mobilized.”
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Cook in his presentation. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units, and it’s a pleasure for me to recognize Dr. Serbousek with this award.”
ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve.
