LINCOLN — Issues affecting Nebraska youth will be featured in the last two episodes of “Speaking of Nebraska,” when the news discussion series airs at 8 p.m. Thursdays on NET through June 6.

On May 30, the topic is teen suicide. Guests include Julia Hebenstreit from the Kim Foundation in Omaha and Mindy Eggert, a suicide prevention volunteer. The Kim Foundation serves as a supportive resource and compassionate voice for lives touched by mental illness and suicide. Eggert speaks to groups about losing her son to suicide and suicide prevention.

Youth sports injuries is the topic for June 6. Guests include Dr. Dane Todd from Nebraska Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, P.C., in Lincoln and Angee Nott who coaches track and cross country and teaches English at Boys Town High School in Omaha.

Todd played fullback for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is a decorated college athlete. Nott is a former UNL track athlete who was a three-time Big 12 champion and a 10-time All-American athlete.

“Speaking of Nebraska” also airs on radio at 6:30 p.m. Fridays.

Each “Speaking of Nebraska” episode also features Unicameral news and updates about Nebraska’s recovery from devastating spring flooding.
