BPO Does No. 147 sponsored numerous donations for 2018, including: Central Nebraska Humane Society, Orphan Grain Train, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Crisis Center, Elks’ bingo, Elks Lodge No. 604 and 2018 President Sandra Wichts’ charity and Hope Harbor. The recipient of the 2018 Does scholarship was Garrett Reeder of Wood River.

Does Deputy Supreme President Kay Vowers installed Carol Fanta as the new drove president for 2019 at the public installation of officers on Jan. 6. Other officers installed were: Jackie Heupel, first counselor; Charlene Ziska, senior counselor; Terry Williamson, junior counselor; Jean Chesnut, secretary; Susan Mayhew, treasurer; Nancy Eoriatti, inner guard; Sue Dunning, outer guard; Levada Nielson, chaplain; Becky Freelend, conductor, musician, alternate delegate and two-year trustee; Mary Anne Kaspar, one-year trustee; Sandra Wicht, three-year trustee.

Charter member Jackie Shade was honored at the BPO Does’ meeting on Feb. 13. Also, the charter was draped in honor of deceased members Darlene Day and Alice Olson.

BPO Does No. 147 have scheduled the following activities: corned beef and cabbage dinner, 6 to 8 p.m. March 16 at Elks Lodge, reservations, (308) 382-8014; Does Easter bake sale, 6 to 8 p.m. April 19 at the Elks front entry way; Does Fawn and Friend Dinner, May 8, 5:30 p.m. social hour, 6:30 dinner at Elks Lodge; Does Grand Lodge Convention at Oklahoma City, June 2-6; annual luncheon and card party at Elks Lodge, July 10, time to be determined; Does picnic, 4 p.m., Aug. 3, location to be determined.

The Does meet the second and fourth Wednesday each month at 4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. There are no meetings the summer months of June, July and August.
