Freddy Kano Jr., a 31-year-old Grand Island man, was arrested early Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and mother of his child.
The woman, who is 30, was left with an open wound to her forehead, a swollen-shut eye and a bloody nose. She had blood on her mouth and a red marking along her neck.
“When they put him in handcuffs, they noticed that he had some of her hair between his fingers still from pulling her hair,” said Capt. Jim Duering of the Grand Island Police Department.
The arrest was made shortly after midnight at 216 E. Stolley Park Road.
The woman refused medical attention.
According to the police media report, it was later discovered that Kano “was concealing a knife in his perin-
eum.” The dictionary says the perineum is the area between the anus and the scrotum.
Duering says the officer who was in charge of the report formerly worked in corrections, which is probably where he became familiar with such terminology.
The suspect helped produce the knife at the jail, he said.
Kano was arrested for third-degree domestic assault, carrying a concealed weapon and being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon.
