DANNEBROG — A big celebration is in store for Dannebrog’s 30th annual Grundlovsfest this weekend.

Festivities officially begin Saturday with a hike-and-bike trail walk from 7 to 9 a.m. Also Saturday, the Muzzleloaders Pancake Feed will be from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Fire Hall.

Rodeo personality Blaine Partridge will announce the parade this year, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday on Mill Street. The Central Nebraska Antique Tractor Association will stick around on the street after the parade to show off and answer questions about their tractors. Area Classic Cars will join in the parade and participate in a Show ’N Shine along Mill Street from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Kids can have fun with the stick horse races at 11 a.m. Saturday on Mill Street, which is sponsored by the Dannebrog American Legion. The turtle races, operated by Steven Callahan, will follow. After the turtle races, it’ll be the ducks’ turn to race at 3 p.m. The duck races are sponsored by the Dannebrog Ball Association.

New this year is a scavenger hunt. Participants can get to know more about Dannebrog and its heritage by taking part in the hunt. The list of items will be available to pick up at the Dannebrog Boosters table at Columbia Hall.

On Sunday, the non-denominational church shervice will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Park, with a potluck to follow.

This year Grundlovsfest will have more than 15 local arts and crafts vendors, including home-based businesses. The arts and crafts fair will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Dansk and Columbia Halls.

Marna’s Country Buffet will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Legion Hall. Many other food options will be available, such as Whiskey River Bar and Grill, Kerry’s Grocery, Dannebrog Delights Ice Cream Shop, Dannebrog American Legion, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and The Danish Baker.

A history walk is also set for Sunday, and participants will meet at Columbia Hall. Harriett’s Bingo will follow the walk from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Fire Hall.
