BURWELL — The Loup Rivers Scenic Byway will be hosting an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at the Interpretive Center, 330 S. Highway 11, in Burwell.
The public is encouraged to stop in to see the progress made with the building improvements of the Plain Valley School District 13, one-room schoolhouse.
There also will be information about the onsite programs of the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway and Loup Basin RC&D including the Butterfly Byway, Friday Nite Business Ventures and the recycling opportunities with Keep Loup Basin Beautiful.
Plain Valley District 13 closed its doors in the spring of 1966 and had been a functioning school since March 12, 1877. The schoolhouse previously sat on the corner of the Kokes Corporation farm on Highway 70 north of Ord and was moved to Burwell in April of 2013 and repurposed as the Loup Rivers Scenic Byway Interpretive Center.
