Join the Arc of Nebraska on Thursday, August 15th at 5pm at the Chocolate Bar in Grand Island to advocate for people with disabilities and their families.

We will be writing letters to Congressman Adrian Smith to make sure Nebraskans with disabilities and their families are being represented at the Congressional level, and voice our concerns with how the new federal budget will impact people with disabilities.

The new federal budget is concerning for many reasons, including:

1) Drastic cuts to Medicaid that will endanger the lives of people with developmental disabilities

2) Cuts to our friends at Nebraska Planning Council on Developmental Disabilities

3) Removal of funding for independent living programs

4) Lowering funds for respite care services

5) Eliminating funds for Special Olympics

6) Cutting a $51 million initiative to address autism and other developmental disorders

7) No cost of living adjustment to Special Education Funding

Can’t make it? Email or call your federal representatives to let them know what concerns you have for the disability community in Nebraska.
