Tofu Shirataki will remind you more of light egg noodles than their real makeup of tofu. They are available in fettuccine, spaghetti and angel hair.

It's hard not to love a product that let's you stuff yourself with a mound of pasta at a cost of just 40 calories.

This isn't fantasy food. It's Tofu Shirataki, delicious and filling noodles made from tofu that pack all of 20 calories per 4-ounce serving. With numbers like that, there's no shame in snarfing the entire two-serving package.

Made by Garden Grove, Calif.-based House Foods American Corp., these soy-based noodles taste nothing like tofu. They have the body and taste of a light egg noodle, and come in three shapes -- fettuccine, spaghetti and the new angel hair.

These water-packed noodles must be kept refrigerated, but prep is simple. Drain, rinse and boil for about a minute. Then use them as you would wheat noodles in soups, stir-fry or with pasta sauces.

Eight-ounce packages of Tofu Shirataki noodles retail for around $1.50. For availability, go to: www.house-foods.com/tofushirataki--faq.html
