Seniors remain active, vital members of society

May is Older Americans Month -- a time Americans pay tribute to older people across the country. But while Americans are living longer and the number of seniors are on the rise, a new University of Chicago study shows that older people remain vital and active members of society as they age, despite a popular notion that they are more likely to be socially isolated.

Signs of autism begin early in childhood

Autism begins before age 3 and lasts throughout a child's life, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. There is currently no cure for the disorder, although an estimated one in 150 8-year-old children have an autism spectrum disorder. For most people with autism, the cause is not known.
