Big Brown continues quest for Triple Crown at Preakness

Before anyone touts Big Brown as a guaranteed winner in Saturday's $1-million Preakness Stake, listen to trainer Reade Baker. Baker trains Grade 1-placed winner Kentucky Bear, a probable Preakness starter who was excluded from Big Brown's 4 3/4-length win in the Kentucky Derby on May 3 at Churchill Downs because of insufficent graded stakes earnings. Baker is conceding nothing to Big Brown in the Preakness, including the win.

Trainer David Anderson stands alone in Fonner Park history after leading this year's trainer standings with 43 wins. The Ashland native's ninth title broke a tie between himself, Marvin Johnson, and Tim Gleason, who all entered Fonner's 55th season tied for the record. Anderson gave his heartfelt acknowledgement to Johnson and Gleason's training careers.

Salty Attraction once again proved that, at six and one-half furlongs, she is the queen of Fonner Park as she captured the  $25,000 Al Swihart Memorial Stakes for the second consecutive season on Fonner's last day of the racing season.
