WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Nebraska coach Bo Pelini’s worst fears about the NCAA’s new beefed-up rules for targeting a defenseless player materialized right in front of him on Saturday.
In the second quarter of the Huskers’ 44-7 victory at Purdue, Stanley Jean-Baptiste became the first Big Ten Conference player to be ejected under the new targeting rules. Nebraska’s senior cornerback hit Dalyn Dawkins near the sideline as the Boilermakers running back attempted to catch a swing pass, drawing a 15-yard penalty and an ejection, which was confirmed by a replay official.
