LINCOLN — Minnesota threw the ball pretty well early in Saturday’s game against Nebraska at Memorial Stadium.

Freshman quarterback Philip Nelson was 5-for-8 passing for 41 yards in the opening quarter. In the second quarter, Nelson was 1-for-5 for nine yards.
