It all came down to one play ... a couple of times. But the one that absolutely mattered the most fell in favor of Grand Island Central Catholic, and the result was a maddening 24-23 overtime victory against Minden.
After seeing the Crusaders take a 24-17 lead in overtime on a pass from Riley Shoemaker to Logan Greenwalt, Minden struck quickly with Isaac Carlson sprinting across the back of the end zone for an eight-yard strike from Jonas Lovin. Minden then lined up for the extra point, but Lovin spun and went right, then hit Ryan Chramosta near the goal line. The senior running back was smothered, and officials ruled him down painfully close to the goal line.
