LINCOLN — With so many experienced players returning for Nebraska’s offense this season, few probably could’ve envisioned the lineup the Cornhuskers put onto the field for their final drive in Saturday’s dramatic 27-24 comeback victory over Northwestern.

Trailing 24-21 with the ball at its own 17-yard line and just 1:14 remaining, Nebraska’s took the field without a list of injured players that included quarterback Taylor Martinez, offensive linemen Spencer Long and Jake Cotton, tight end Jake Long and wide receivers Kenny Bell and Jamal Turner. Later, needing to attempt a Hail Mary from midfield on the game’s final play, the Huskers’ coaching staff even considered putting cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste, who started his NU career on offense, in the game at wide receiver.
