LINCOLN – For the record, Maliek Collins recorded Nebraska’s first sack of the season, late in the third quarter of the Southern Miss game. He pulled down quarterback Allan Bridgford for a 10-yard loss, forcing Bridgford to fumble. Bridgford recovered at his own 11-yard line.
Collins, a true freshman defensive tackle, hasn’t seen a lot of action since then. As often as not, his opportunities have come late in games, when the outcome hasn’t been in doubt.
