Police/Sheriff

Anyone with information about any crime in the state may call the Grand Island-Hall County Crime Stoppers, 381-8822. Crime Stoppers guarantees that callers will remain anonymous.

A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid after law enforcement agencies have determined the seriousness of the crime and the usefulness of the information.

Inmate custody status can be obtained by calling the VINE hotline at (877) NE 4 VINE. Information is available 24 hours a day.

If you see a crime happening, call the Grand Island-Hall County Emergency Center --  911.



Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

 Lynn Packer, 1519 N. Eddy St., reported an attempted burglary there.

 Audrey Borgheiinck, 1523 N. Eddy St., reported an attempted burglary there.

 Jeff Spiehs, 104 N. Monroe St., reported a theft.

 Shostal Rogers, 723 W. 15th St., reported a theft there. A person was referred to the Hall County attorney's office.

 ABF Freight System, 1021 W. Oklahoma Ave., reported criminal mischief there.

 Alex McCormick, 416 W. Third St., reported criminal mischief there.



Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested seven people on warrants in seven cases. The following felonies were reported:

 Michelle Knauer, 714 1/2 W. First St., reported an assault at 110 Public Safety Drive.

 Rosa Guzman-Fontes, Alda, reported a burglary at No. 19 Robin in Alda.

 Roger Richter, Doniphan, reported a burglary at 15362 S. Blaine.

The Hall County Jail has 133 inmates, booked in 17 people and released 18 people.

Hall County District Court

 Maximiliano F. Castillo, 19, 2214 N. Huston Ave., pleaded no contest to attempted burglary, reduced from burglary, for an April 29 incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 26.

 Cheryl L. Bell, also known as Cheryl Augustine-Bell, 44, 1119 S. Pine St., pleaded no contest to attempted distribution of methamphetamine, reduced from distribution, for a May 4, 2007, incident. Her sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

 James N. Kontos, 28, 235 N. Grace, Apt. 1, pleaded no contest to terroristic threats for a May 24 incident involving Elizabeth Taper. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

 Rowden D. Schneberger, 23, 1740 Garland St., pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute for an Oct. 21, 2007, incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

 Ronald J. Wells, 50, Broken Bow, pleaded no contest to second-degree assault for a Feb. 12 incident involving Clinton Gordon. A charge of using a ball-peen hammer to commit a felony was dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

 Monique J. Rivera, 18, 2323 Bellwood Drive, Apt. 206, pleaded no contest to aiding and abetting distribution of methamphetamine and felony child abuse for an April 8 incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.

 Abdulahi O. Nur, 41, 623 E. Yund St., Apt. 3, pleaded not guilty to terroristic threats for a May 10 incident involving Mohamed Abdi Ali. His trial is scheduled for December.

 Christopher W. Goff, 27, 504 N. Elm St., No. 117, pleaded not guilty to terroristic threats, resisting arrest, obstructing a police officer and disturbing the peace for a June 9 incident involving Joaquin Garcia-Rodriguez. His trial is scheduled for December.

 Angelina Gier, 38, 522 W. Hedde St., pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse for an Oct. 30, 2007, incident. Her trial is schedule for January.

 Alex J. Malinauskas, 19, 3121 W. North Front St., Apt. 12, pleaded not guilty to first-degree sexual assault for an incident between Jan. 1, 2002, and Dec. 1, 2004. His pretrial is scheduled for Dec. 10.

 Seth R. Trotter, 18, 4797 N. St. Paul Road, pleaded not guilty to first-degree sexual assault for a Nov. 1, 2003, incident. His trial is scheduled for December.



Correction

Fire chief's wife

The first name of the wife of Grand Island Fire Chief Jim Rowell is Carol. Her name was incorrect in a story in Friday's Inde-pendent.
