Corrections/clarifications

Art show canceled

The August art show at the Plainsman Museum in Aurora listed in the yourTICKET calendar of Thursday's Independent has been canceled.

Vote for city salary increase clarified

Grand Island City Councilman John Gericke clarified Thursday that he voted for a 3.75 percent increase for nonunion workers at a Wednesday night council budget session because he felt the nonunion workers deserved the increase and to maintain comparability with the market. A Thursday budget story said many council members voted for the increase, in part, out of concern that a lower raise may prompt nonunion workers to unionize. Gericke said he did not vote for the raise for that reason.

Prayer service held in chapel

Wednesday's article on the new chapel at Central Catholic should have said that the former chapel functioned as a true chapel. The article also should have said that Central Catholic teachers held a prayer service, not a Mass, in the new chapel before school started.
