Police/Sheriff

Anyone with information about any crime in the state may call the Grand Island-Hall County Crime Stoppers, 381-8822. Crime Stoppers guarantees that callers will remain anonymous.

A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid after law enforcement agencies have determined the seriousness of the crime and the usefulness of the information.

Inmate custody status can be obtained by calling the VINE hotline at (877) NE 4 VINE. Information is available 24 hours a day.

If you see a crime happening, call the Grand Island-Hall County Emergency Center --  911.



Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

  • Jama Obermiller, 2015 Stagecoach Road, reported a theft there.
  • Lisa DeBaun, Holdrege, reported a theft by exercising control at 920 N. Diers Ave.
  •  Wal-Mart, 3501 S. Locust St., reported a theft there.
  • Carol Castleberry, 704 Church Road, reported a burglary there.
  • Eder Avila, address unknown, reported a theft at 555 S. Stuhr Road.
     


Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested three people on warrants in three cases. No felonies were reported.

The Hall County Jail has 136 inmates, booked in 10 people and released seven.


Court report

Hall County District Court

-- Joshua A. Thulin, 19, 415 S. Cherry St., Apt. S1, pleaded not guilty to assault by a confined person and attempted assault by a confined person for a March 30 incident involving Keith Raker and Brian Leetch. He also pleaded not guilty to criminal mischief for a June 29 incident involving property of the Hall County Department of Corrections. His trial is scheduled for January.

Hall County Court

  • Joel Ochoa-Gonzalez, also known as Joel Gonzalez, 26, 643 Kennedy Drive, No. 1, was charged with resisting arrest and second-offense driving during suspension for an Oct. 4 incident.
  • Tammy L. Voight, also known as Tammy Moore and Tammy Spitz, 44, 805 Cherokee St., was charged with assault by confined person for an Oct. 6 incident involving Michelle Knauer.
  • Dean J. Shaffer, 20, 211 North Lane, was sentenced to nine months probation and fined $200 for the attempted possession of an explosive device, reduced from possession of an explosive device, for a July 4 incident. He was also ordered to pay $250 restitution.
  • Heriberto Ventura-Romero, 20, 910 W. 16th St., was sentenced to nine months probation and fined $200 for the attempted possession of an explosive device, reduced from possession of an explosive device, for a July 4 incident. He was also ordered to pay $250 restitution.

Eric R. Steinkamp, 24, 239 S. Vine St., $400, six months probation, 120 days no driving; Agustin M. Marquez, 40, 508 E. Fifth St., $400, seven days in jail, six months no driving; Nathan J. Kortum, 23, 813 N. Broadwell Ave., $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Melissa D. Hostetler, 30, 3720 W. State St., Apt. B6, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving. Ramon Garcia-Fonseca, 25, 1612 N. Grand Island Ave., $400, nine months probation, 60 days no driving; Moises R. Jacobo, 35, 512 W. First St. No. 2, $400, six months probation, 14 days jail, six months no driving; David Rodriguez, 33, Alda, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving.
