Area births

HOFAKER -- To Terry and Janet (Klein) Hofaker of Hastings, a son born June 30 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Grandparents are Terry and Ginna Hofaker of Holdrege, Brent and Bev Klein of McCook, Debra Klein of Hastings and Reba Zhueller of Rockville.

Other births

PLAUTZ -- To Aaron and Hope (Harrelson) Plautz of Dallas, a daughter born July 8. Grandparents are Jeff and Kathy Plautz of Amarillo, Texas, and Mike and Marty Pawnee of Hershey. Great-grandmother is Floretta Ward of Omaha.

Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

 Tyler Holder, 1303  W. Seventh St., reported a theft there.

 George Dethlefs, St. Paul, reported a theft at 4331 Juergen Road. A vehicle was stolen.

 Teresa N. Geiger, 116 Lynn Lane, reported a theft in the 600 block of Darr Avenue.

 Gary Gibbs and Casey Zywiec, 1416 W. Anna St., Apt. 4, reported a theft there. A dog was stolen.

Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested seven people on warrants in seven cases. The following felony was reported:

 J&D Auto, Wood River, reported a theft at 716 Main St. in Wood River. A vehicle was taken.

Hall County District Court

 Jessica Mills, 27, Edgemont, S.D., pleaded no contest to distribution of methamphetamine for a Dec. 21, 2007, incident. Her sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 28.

 Santana J. Hansen, 23, 409 W. Seventh St., pleaded no contest to attempted theft by receiving stolen property, reduced from theft by unlawful taking, for a March 6 incident. Her sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 22.

 Jesse J. Johnson, 27, Phillips, pleaded no contest to possession of methamphetamine for a Nov. 15, 2007, incident. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 22.

 Nyamal G. Wuol, 19, 717 N. Vine St., pleaded no contest to assault by a confined person for a Feb. 4 incident involving Terri Mason. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 22.

 Troy D. Utley, also known as Troy Hall, 42, Alda, pleaded no contest to second-degree forgery for a Jan. 20 incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 22.

Hall County Court

 Dustin A. Michalski, 23, Adel, Ga., was charged with first-degree sexual assault on a child for an April 2, 2006, incident.

 Joann M. Spilger, 35, 2114 W. Second St. Room 315, was charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult for a March 13 incident.

 Monte D. Short, 43, 4185 Airport Road, was charged with strangulation and third-degree domestic assault for an April 30 incident involving Carla Short.

 Jacqueline M. Dumas, also known as Jackie M. Dumas, 28, 112 Lakeview Circle, Apt. 11, was charged with possession of methamphetamine for a May 15 incident.

 Geoffrey D. Mazankowski, 35, 1502 Hope St., No. 2, was charged with terroristic threats for a June 5, 2007, incident involving Denae Mazankowski.

 Genaro Flores, 34, 1424 E. Seventh St., was charged with possession of cocaine, a felony, and second-offense driving under the influence and first-offense driving during suspension, both misdemeanors, for a July 5 incident.

 Antonio T. Trejo, 34, 1414 E. Fifth St., was charged with second-degree assault for a July 4 incident involving Juan Morales.

Bradley D. Moseley, 24, Kingwood, Texas, first offense, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Joann M. Spilger, 35, 2114 W. Second St., Room 315, second offense, $500, 18 months probation, one year no driving; Nathaniel I. Contreras, 23, 2323 Bellwood, No. 121, first offense, $400, one year probation, seven days jail, six months no driving; Casey W. Dennhardt, 25, 2323 Kruse Ave., third offense, $600, 30 days jail, two years probation, two years no driving; Debra J. Fox, 31, 415 N. Jefferson, first offense, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Kim C. Veerhusen, 54, Lincoln, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Yesenia Huerta Canfield, 33, 1615 W. Custer, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Shane M. McIntosh, 28, $500, 90 days in jail, two years no driving.
