BOHRER-ARNOLD
-- To Katie Bohrer and Tyler Arnold of Grand Island, a daughter born May 23 at St. Francis Medical Center.

GARDNER -- To Anthony and Meredith (Grunke) Gardner of Grand Island, a daughter born June 20 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Grandparents are Weston and Terri Grunke of Omaha, Jana Christensen of Pisgah, Iowa, and Chris Gardner of Mount Pleasant, Utah.

Area births

REQUENA -- To Tirso and Tiffani (Fisher) Requena of Hastings, a son born June 17 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

BUNCH -- To Jessica Bunch and Raymond Sheid of Hastings, a son born June 20 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Grandparents are Marvin and Shannon Bunch and Cynthia Sheid, all of Hastings, and Edgar Sheid of Grand Island. Great-grandparents are Donita Stotts of Crete and Ivy Jarzynka of Harvard.


Police/Sheriff

Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

  • Aaron's Rent-to-Own, 804 N. Diers Ave., reported a theft there.
  • Jose Vasquez, 110 W. 11th St., reported an attempted burglary there.
  • A 6-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted in Grand Island.


Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested three people on warrants in four cases. No felonies were reported.

The Hall County Jail has 118 inmates, booked in three people and released 15 people.

Hall County District Court

  • Christopher L. Boydstun, 19, 114 E. Bismark, pleaded no contest to terroristic threats, reduced from attempted robbery, for a March 28 incident involving Shannon Ahlman. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 5.
  • Kay L. Eastman, 46, 663 Faidley Place, No. 10, pleaded no contest to the unauthorized use of a financial transaction device for an April 16 incident. She entered the Central Nebraska Drug Court on June 20.


Hall County Court

  • Michael G. Edgerton, 35, Kearney, was charged with second-offense writing insufficient/no funds checks for a Dec. 20, 2007, incident.
  • Santos S. Abarca, 34, Wood River, was charged with writing insufficient/no funds checks for a May 18 incident.
  • Alex J. Malinauskas, 19, 3121 W. North Front St., Apt. 12, was charged with first-degree sexual assault for an incident that occurred between Jan. 1, 2002, and Dec. 1, 2004.
  • James R. Williams, 34, 1811 W. 13th St., was charged with child abuse for a June 8 incident.
  • Adrian S. Loya, 17, 2111 W. Capital Ave., was charged with third-degree assault on a police officer and being a minor in consumption of alcohol for a June 14 incident.
  • Vlado Lugonja, 22, Rockford, Ill., was charged with failure to appear for a June 11 incident.
  • Jaime L. Sisneroz, also known as Jaime Cisneroz and B.J. Trejo, 28, Lincoln, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, false imprisonment and terroristic threats for a June 23 incident involving Kristina Guerrero.
  • Catarino Cantera-Cruz, 48, 714 W. First St., No. 4, was charged with escape for a June 20 incident.


Driving under the influence

Jeff A. Gimpel, 39, Giltner, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving; Phung M. Thach, 33, 2007 W. 10th St., $500, two days in jail, one year no driving, one year probation; Francisco Trejo-Recendis, 19, Central City, $400, nine months probation, 60 days no driving; Jason T. Vogt, 25, 616 E. Division No. 2, second offense, $500, 30 days in jail, one year no driving; Paul D. Westmoreland, 68, 522 W. Second St., No. 23, $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving.
