Area births

BEARNES -- To Beau and Cortney (Brandes) Bearnes of Central City, a daughter born May 19 at St. Francis Medical Center.

LEWIS -- To Kenneth W. and JaCee J. (Wyman) Lewis of Hastings, a son born July 22 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.



Other births

STOAKES -- To Levi and Jessica (Heffinger) Stoakes of Rising City, a son born July 22. Grandparents are Steve Stoakes of Lincoln, Michael and Dorene Spies of Grand Island and Ron and Lori Hettinger of Scottsbluff. Great-grandparents are Jodi and Gary Howser of Rising City and Ron and Bonnie Hettinger of Mitchell. Great-great-grandmother is Lydia Kufeldt.





Police/Sheriff

Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

 Mansura Abdulhalim, 604 Sutherland St., reported being strangled at 619 Yund St. A man was arrested.

 Walter Mejia, 1403 W. Fourth St., reported being strangled and a domestic assault there. A woman was arrested.

 Sherry Jenkins, address not listed, reported a burglary at 1312 W. John St.

 David Wilsey, 313 N. Broadwell Ave., reported a theft there.

 Brant VanBoening, Grand Island, reported a burglary. One person was arrested and another was referred to the Hall County attorney's office.

 Scott Wiedeman, 416 W. Seventh St., reported criminal mischief there. A vehicle was damaged.

 Jeremy Lemprecht, 309 W. Hedde St., reported a burglary there. A TV was taken.

 Alan Davis, 204 W. 14th St., reported a theft there. Cash, titles and other items were stolen.

 Jose Zarate, 407 E. Oklahoma, reported a burglary there. A vehicle was stolen from a garage.



Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested 12 people on warrants in 12 cases. No felonies were reported.

  The Hall County Jail has 130 inmates, booked in 35 people and released 35 people.

Hall County Court

 Alexander A. Attack, 44, 610 E. Yund St. Apt. 1, was charged with strangulation and third-degree domestic assault for a July 27 incident involving Mansura Abdulhalim.

 Kay L. Eastman, 46, 1403 W. Fourth St., was charged with strangulation and third-degree domestic assault for a July 27 incident involving Walter Mejia.

 Leon J. Reyes, 22, 1122 N. Oak St., was charged with failure to appear for a June 5 incident.

 Danny R. Stevens, 57, Ainsworth, was charged with sexual assault on a child for a July 25 incident.

 Richard D. Fries, 35, North Platte, was charged with possession of a .380 handgun by a felon for a July 19 incident.



Driving under the influence -- Kevin M. Helzer, 19, Bozeman, Mont., $400, six months probation, 60 days no driving.



Correction

Motorcycle rider misidentified

The young boy pictured on the back of the motorcycle on the front of Section E in Sunday's paper was Andrew Brott. He was misidentified in the cutline.
