Births
Local birth
HILL -- To Brandon and Laura (Rupe) Hill of Grand Island, a daughter born June 9 at St. Francis Medical Center. Grandparents are Ed and Teri Rupe of Eustis and Doug and Rhonda Hill of Farnam.


Other birth 
BERTRANDT -- To Jeff and Lindsay (Spilinek) Bertrandt of Milwaukee, a son born May 30 at West Allis Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. Grandparents are Mike and Denise Spilinek of Grand Island and Tim and Kathy Bertrandt of Greenfield, Wis. Great-grandparents include Dick and Mavis Davey of Hastings and Dale and Sally Spilinek, also of Hastings.



Police/Sheriff

A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid after law enforcement agencies have determined the seriousness of the crime and the usefulness of the information.

The following felony was reported: 

n Matthew Maser, 1504 Stagecoach Road, reported a theft there.

Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested four people on warrants in four cases. No felonies were reported.

n Kent A. Svajdlenka, 36, 320 Cardinal Drive, was sentenced to five years probation, fined $1,000 and ordered to complete 240 hours of community service for sexual assault of a child, reduced from first-degree sexual assault, for an incident that occurred between Jan. 1, 2004, and Jan. 1, 2007.

Hall County Court

n Peggy Sue Svoboda, 50, 2008 E. Seedling Mile Road, No. 2, was sentenced to 60 days in jail, six months probation and 40 hours community service for second-offense theft by shoplifting, reduced from third-offense, for a March 8 incident.

Driving under the influence

Edgar O. Monroy-Maeda, 26, 2217 W. First St., $500, nine months probation, 120 hours of community service, one year no driving; Jeremy J. Antillon, 21, 423 Taft Ave., second offense, $500, one year probation, 240 hours community service, one year no driving.

Correction

 ’Honk' tickets cost $12.50

Tickets for Grand Island Little Theatre's production of "Honk" cost $12.50 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. The ticket price has been incorrect this week in the "What's Going On" calendar on the weather page of The Independent and was incorrect on Page 4-C of Thursday's Your Ticket section.

The musical will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the lawn behind Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
