Area births

RASMUSSEN -- To Wesley and Glinda (Eichstedt) Rasmussen of Giltner, a daughter born July 14 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Grandparents are Gerald and Sylvia Eichstedt of Hershey and Doris and Edgar Rasmussen of Marquette.

Police/Sheriff

A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid after law enforcement agencies have determined the seriousness of the crime and the usefulness of the information.

Grand Island Police

The following felonies were reported: 

-- Ventura Sanchez, address unknown, reported terroristic threats at Third and Pine streets. A man was arrested.

-- Benjamin Santoyo Jr., address unknown, reported terroristic threats at Third and Pine streets. A man was arrested.

-- Yasin M. Ahmed, South Sioux City, reported a theft at 623 Yund St. Money was taken.

-- Jesus Alvarez-Chavez and Mariano Rocha-Miranda, 707 St. Paul Road, reported a theft there. Items were taken from their vehicles.

-- Chad Glause, 4711 Nevada Ave., reported a theft at 3354 W. Stolley Park Road. Items were taken from a vehicle.

Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested nine people on warrants in 11 cases. The following felonies were reported:

-- Jerome Rewolinski, 2540 N. Webb Road, reported a burglary at 3821 S. Shady Bend Road.

-- Richard Merrick, 2307 Cottonwood, reported a burglary at 208 E. Third in Alda.

-- Timothy Hieb, Alda, reported a burglary at 203 Vine St. in Alda.

- - Abbigail Cruz, 4870 W. Highway 30 No. 5, reported a burglary at 4870 W. Highway 30 No. 11.

Court report

Hall County Court

-- Benjamin Santoyo Jr., 37, Yuma, Ariz., was charged with using a pocketknife to commit a felony, terroristic threats and criminal mischief for a July 20 incident involving Ventura Sanchez.

-- Cesar Humberto-Maeda, 21, Grand Island, was charged with second-degree assault and false reporting for a July 20 incident involving Benjamin Santoyo.

Correction

SOS support group to meet in August

SOS (Starting Over Support Group) will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12 in Suite 100A at the US Bank, 2121 N. Webb Road. A support group listing in Sunday's Independent indicated the group would not meet in August and also listed an incorrect meeting location.
