Local births

COLLIER -- To Robert and Elizabeth (Sandquist) Collier of Grand Island, a son born July 7 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Grandparents are Raymond Collier and Melva Sandquist, both of Grand Island, and Deb Collier of Missouri. Great-grandparents are Sally Collier of Grand Island and Thelma Umbenhower of Doniphan.

MUELLER -- To Jeremy and Katey (Robison) Mueller of Grand Island, a daughter born July 2 at St. Francis Medical Center.

ECKSTROM -- To Anthony and Ami (Galusha) Eckstrom of Palmer, a daughter born on July 11 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

SHOEMAKER -- To Charlie and Shawna (Mangers) Shoemaker of Central City, a son born July 7 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

BECK -- To Justin and Alycia (Parde) Beck of Harvard, a son born July 7 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.

Grand Island Police

The following felony was reported: 

 Sickle Service, 204 Claude Road, reported a theft there. A trailer was stolen.

Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested 14 people on warrants in 16 cases. No felonies were reported.

The Hall County Jail has 128 inmates, booked in 30 people and released 35 people.

 Said Farah, 29, 914 W. First St., was fined $1,500 for attempted possession of khat, reduced from possession, for a May 26 incident.

 David A. Dieguez, also known as Alfonso D. Dieguez, 33, 504 N. Elm St., Apt. 205, was charged with violation of the sex offender registration act and being a habitual criminal for a May 9, 2007, incident.

Driving under the influence

Kerri A. Rewerts, 23, Doniphan, second-offense, $500, one year probation, 30 days in jail; Kevin D. Jensen, 46, Shelton, third-offense, $600, 18 months probation, two years no driving, 30 days in jail.



Correction

Taco Pockets ingredients


The recipe for Taco Pockets, the Simply Cookin' recipe in Monday's Independent, calls for 1 1/3 pounds of ground sirloin or ground turkey breast. That ingredient was omitted in the Monday recipe.
