Grand Island Senior High graduate Mike Lorenz scored a game-high 19 points Saturday night to lead the Americans to an 83-78 victory over the Nationals in the Hastings-area All-Star game at Adams Central High School.
Lorenz owned the middle of the game, scoring eight points in both the second and third quarters. He finished with four 3-pointers.
Dan Werner of Deshler added 13 points for the Americans, while Dragons teammate Jens Scholl finished with 11 points. Jory Crouch, another Islander, finished with nine points.
Tanner Krajnik led a balanced Nationals squad with 11 points. Heartland Lutheran graduate Matthew Wagnitz added 10 points, as did Minden teammates Spencer Choquette and Dallas Christen. Greg Nissen of Ravenna had eight points for the Nationals.
