Crusaders win Heartland triangular

Class C-1 No. 2-rated Grand Island Central Catholic (22-2) easily dispatched two foes to win the Heartland triangular.

The Crusaders downed David City in their opener 25-10, 25-9 behind the strong service of Hannah Bolton. Bolton served nine points including three aces in the match. Liz McGowan led the net attack with nine kills, while Steph Brand added eight and Jessica Wojcik six. Katie Brand had 15 digs and eight points, while Bailey Baxter tallied 26 set assists.

GICC downed host Heartland 25-8, 25-12 as Hannah Bolton (9), Bailey Baxter (8), Steph Brand (7) and Liz McGowan (7) combined for 31 points in the match. McGowan once again led in kills with eight, while Brand added seven. Baxter dished out 27 assists, and Jessica Wojcik had a team-high 10 digs.

David City (14-7) downed Heartland (10-10) 25-22, 20-25, 25-20. No further information was provided.
