G.I. tennis team wins quad

COLUMBUS —

Grand Island Senior High's boys tennis team won the title Saturday at the Columbus Triangular.

The Islanders totaled 14 points to take the title. Columbus was second with nine followed by Norfolk with eight and Hastings five.

"Today was a good day for all our players," G.I. coach Jill Bernal said. "It was a good confidence builder before state. We are ver excited for next week."

Grand Island's Lance Kush went 3-0 to win the title at No. 2 singles. G.I.'s No. 1 doubles team of John Steinke and Cody Bartlett also went 3-0.

Ryan McCarty and Duke Nguyen was 3-0 as well to take the title at No. 2 doubles.

Trevor Fugitt went 1-2 to finish third at No. 1 singles.
