On Nov. 4 we have a chance to elect a strong leader to the Nebraska legislature that has our best interest at heart. My husband, Ronnie and I, are voting for Mike Gloor. I've known Mike since 1987 when I was a registered nurse working at St. Francis Medical Center. He was the COO then CEO/president. He had an open door policy and took time to see any employee. In 1997, I was a patient in CICU. Due to many health problems, my doctor told me I could no longer work. I was devastated. I remember Mike coming to see me and telling me that when I got well, there'd be a job waiting for me. A year later when everyone knew I could no longer ever work, Mike sent me a card telling me how sorry he was and that SFMC was losing one of the best nurses ever to have worked there. He inspired me with his kindness, understanding and support. That's the type of person Mike is, always concerned about others. He had a vision of what health care in Grand Island should be like. Now we have one of the finest, most advanced, state of the art hospitals in Nebraska. As a CEO/president, he was in a leadership position to collaborate with area businesses, companies, charities and individuals for the betterment of our community. This year he and his wife, Chris, are the United Way chairpersons. Please join my husband and me to elect Mike Gloor to the legislature this Nov. 4. He will help lead us during these troubling times.
