Soon we'll be voting on whether or not to fluoridate the city water supply. All we've been told is, "it is safe and it's cheap," but has anyone touting fluoride mentioned to you the source of this fluoride and why foreign countries are now taking it out of their water systems?
Hydrofluorosilicic acid (fluoride) is neither safe nor normal. The bottles are labeled, "Danger/Poison" and it is a by-product of the phosphate fertilizer industry. This fluoride is highly toxic and is also an expensive venture. In today's economy, can Grand Island afford this added expense?
Also in the past, we've heard that no one has ever complained about being allergic to fluoride. I am allergic to it. Anytime I use toothpaste with fluoride, my mouth breaks out. However, I have no problem with non-fluoride toothpaste. I'm wondering what problems I might have if it is put in the water?
For these reasons, I am against fluoridating Grand Island's city water.
