Thank you, Grand Island,from the Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus in Grand Island and the surrounding areas would like to thank the people of Central Nebraska for their generosity in our recently completed Tootsie Roll Drive for the Mentally Challenged. Thank you to all the stores in Grand Island who allowed us the opportunity to solicit funds at their stores, the workers and all those who generously contributed funds for this worthy cause. Families with children participating in the Special Olympics in Omaha, Strong Americans, Special Olympics and riding camps for people with special needs were some of the recipients of your wonderful generosity. In the state of Nebraska last year, the Knights raised $200,000 with our Tootsie Roll drive. On behalf of the 700 members of the Knights of Columbus in Grand Island, I thank everyone for the tremendous generosity shown this year.

Area restaurants support Relay for Life

This is the 3rd year my husband and I have captained a team for the Relay for Life cancer walk recently held at the Grand Island Central Catholic track.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the area restaurants that contributed so willingly to our Live Auction basket, that we filled with food cards from these businesses.  There was an overwhelming response, and I'm happy to say, it raised another $350.00 the night of the relay towards cancer research monies.  In particular, we wish to thank:  Balz Sport Bar; Long John Silver's; Valentino's; Perkin's; New Century Buffet:  Coldstone; McDonald's; Eileen's Cookies; Texas T-Bone; Jimmy John's; Uncle Ed's Steakhouse; Burger King; Arby's; Ruby Tuesday; Applebee's; Runza Restaurants; Whiskey Creek; Carlos O'Kelly's; Taco John's; Pizza Hut; and Starbuck's.  The kindness shown to us as we approached these businesses, and the support they provided, was outstanding!  We will gladly support your businesses all year.  Thank you once again!
