LETTER: Vote ‘yes’ to prohibit fluoride

Fluoridation is yesterday's technology originating at a time when asbestos lines our pipes, lead was added to gasoline, PCB's filled our transformers, and DDT was deemed safe and effective.  One by one, all of these chemicals have been banned, but fluoride remains, foisted upon us with its exaggerated benefits and ignored risks.  According to John R. Lee M.D. the strength of the fluoride cancer link study by the National Toxicology Program is greater than that which resulted in banning alar, red dye#3, or cyclamate.

 A government propelled fluoridation promotion methodically bombards the public through political power not with rational analysis. We are condescendingly told to trust opinions of pro-fluoride professionals rather than responsibly research for ourselves  Some brave professionals do warn of fluoride's toxic effects. A humane and health conscious stance is when in doubt, do without.

 Ironically, our ``Land of the Free`` is 66% fluoridated, pushing for 100%, while overlooking fluoridation's violation of individual rights.  Whereas, 97% of Europe rejected fluoridation, concluding it is a personal decision.     

 Our country is ignoring health and ecological consequences of large industry's fluoride pollution.  We are inundated with increasing organofluorine compounds in plastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and flushing of 99% of fluoridation chemicals in water, into sewers, then into groundwater/rivers.  Fluoridation is NOT a GREEN practice; it is not friendly to humans, animals, or the environment.

Please vote yes to prohibit fluoridation (adding industry's toxic waste) to our water system.
