GRAND ISLAND —

The second presidential debate was a little dissappointing because so much of the time was spent on insignificant rethoric.    If we all write right away we might make the next one a lot better.

Let's all write to the organizers of the third Presidential Debate and ask for a few rules that will benefit the people for the last presidential debate.

First:   Let's ask that absolutely no reference is made by either candidate to the other candidate or the other candidate's position or reputation.    We know they disagree on many things.   We don't care what Obama ``thinks`` McCain means or what McCain ``thinks`` Obama means.   We are adults and can make our own decisions and do not want to waste half our time hearing the silly disrespectful or bashing comments about each other.  We want to hear how each candidate feels and what he will do about each of our many issues.   We do not want to hear over and over criticism of the other candidate.

Then just ask easy questions that will tell us how they think.

I would love to know what each thinks of the public statements that bash other countries by top American officials.   They are immediately spread to other nations by our world wide instant news.  I would love to know if each candidate thinks we should be making public negative comments about other nations.

I would love to hear each candidate answer on their own a question like: Do they think it is the government's job to manage the economy and our free market?

I would love to hear each candidates outline of health care and taxes WITHOUT mudding the water spending most of their time talking about the oponents plan or what they think the oponents plan is.

We could all vote more intelligently and less emotionally if the candidates would just stick to what they believe and let us see the differences for ourselves.

And we ought to tell the news media that ``Who Won the Debate?`` is a stupid question!    They don't win the debate, they get their platform explained.    The win or loose will come in November when we hear how Americans feel about their positions.

And wouldn't this whole political process be a lot more fun if we all could be more respectable and adult?
