Among other attributes, Nebraskans are known for being thrifty and conservative with their money. They know the value of a buck. That makes Amendment No. 4 on this November’s ballot regarding a pay raise for state legislators an interesting decision for Nebraskans.
Since 1988, legislators have been paid the not-so-princely sum of $12,000 per year. That may not seem like much, but remember that for decades before that they made $4,800 annually. Not many jobs have had the same level of pay for 24 years.
